SUNON AALC Solution for AI Data Center Seamlessly Updates Cooling Power

2024.09.26

With the rapid increase in AI computational capacity, conventional air-cooled technology in data centers is struggling to dissipate the heat generated by high-performance CPUs and GPUs. This inadequacy can lead to potential server operation hazards, such as reduced computing efficiency, system failures, shutdowns, and higher operational costs due to excessive energy consumption. While fully liquid-cooled solutions can meet the growing demand for improved cooling in next-generation data centers, they require significant investment and may face compatibility issues. Therefore, the key to creating greener data centers is selecting a feasible cooling solution that uses limited resources to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions while maintaining efficient server operations. Air-Assisted Liquid Cooling (AALC) is an alternative method that meets global market requirements by integrating existing air-cooled solution with new liquid-cooled systems without the need to replace existing infrastructure or air conditioning equipment.

SUNON offers a wide range of tailored AALC solutions, configuring both air-cooled and liquid-cooled systems like the Direct Cooling and Sidecar system. This includes the Heat Rejection Unit (HRU), Fan Wall, and Reservoir and Pumping Unit (RPU). The SUNON AALC's operating mechanism quickly transfers heat generated by the CPU and GPU to the sidecar system via liquid cold plates. The warm liquid is then sent through pipelines to the RPU at the bottom of the sidecar. High-efficiency water pumps inside the RPU force the liquid through pipes to the HRU and Fan Wall to be cooled. Finally, the cooled liquid returns to the RPU and is sent back to the cold plates, restarting the cooling cycle. The SUNON AALC solution can dissipate heat up to 60-80 kW, making it ideal for CPU-bound or compute-intensive tasks such as supercomputing, generative AI, and HPC applications.
